The flyover’s completion may also influence Mumbai’s real estate environment.

The new Dindoshi–Film City flyover in Mumbai officially opened on October 22, 2026, completing a critical segment of the Goregaon–Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project. This 1.26-kilometer, six-lane structure connects General Arun Kumar Vaidya Marg near Hotel Ratnagiri Junction with Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari Road close to Santosh Nagar, directly linking residential and commercial zones in the city’s eastern and western suburbs. Located near Hotel Ratnagiri Junction in Goregaon East, the flyover connects General Arun Kumar Vaidya Marg with Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari Road near Santosh Nagar, marking a key milestone in Phase 1 of the Goregaon–Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project, according to a press release detailing the event.

Mumbai’s long-standing east–west connectivity challenges have driven the need for this infrastructure upgrade. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the project’s importance during the virtual inauguration, stating that such improvements are vital for lowering Mumbai’s average daily commute to between 50 and 60 minutes. He noted that these developments directly enhance quality of life by making daily travel more efficient.

The flyover’s completion may also influence Mumbai’s real estate environment. Neighborhoods like Andheri, Jogeshwari, and Goregaon already draw buyers due to their proximity to business centers, but better east–west connectivity could extend demand to areas such as Mulund, Bhandup, and Vikhroli. This shift would give potential homeowners greater flexibility in balancing commute times with access to essential services, while employers might benefit from a larger pool of talent across suburban regions. The trend reflects how transportation infrastructure often determines residential choices in cities with fragmented transit networks.

As the broader GMLR project progresses, its planned tunnels and road links are expected to establish a direct connection between Goregaon and Mulund, improving access between residential neighborhoods and commercial centers across the city. Enhanced road links are also expected to influence residential preferences and employment choices by easing commutes between Mumbai’s western and eastern suburban corridors.
