KOKUYO Workplace India, a Japan’s KOKUYO Co., Ltd. subsidiary, introduced Duora2, a task chair developed in Japan and produced at its Nagpur, Maharashtra facility. The item, presented in Bengaluru, signifies the company’s initial Japan-originated product manufactured and launched locally.
The chair will be available through KOKUYO’s experience centers in major cities and online. They expect 40% year-on-year revenue growth this financial year and aim to double seating revenue in three years. KOKUYO plans to introduce three to five additional Japan-designed products to India in the next 24 months to meet demand from corporate office expansion and Global Capability Centres.
Duora2 features an adjustable lower-back support mechanism designed to adapt to forward-leaning, upright, and reclined postures. It is the second generation of KOKUYO’s Duora line, which launched in Japan in January 2024.
Karan Sachdev, Managing Director of KOKUYO Workplace India, said, “India’s offices are getting bigger and better, but the chair is still the piece of furniture people spend the most time with and think about the least. Someone working on a laptop, on a video call and in a review is sitting three different ways in the same hour, and their chair should keep up. Duora2 is the first KOKUYO Japan-designed product we are bringing to India, and we are making it in Nagpur. That is what we mean by In India, for India: Japanese design and engineering, built here for the GCCs and enterprises that now compete on the experience they offer their people.”

Masayoshi Suzuki, Lead Designer of Duora2, KOKUYO Co., Ltd., stated, “We designed Duora2 by watching how people actually sit at work. Nobody holds one posture for long, so the chair had to support the body in each position without asking the user to keep adjusting it.”
Daisuke Watanabe, Head of the SEA and India Division, KOKUYO Co., Ltd., added, “India is one of the most important growth markets for KOKUYO. Launching Duora2 here, and manufacturing it in Nagpur, shows our commitment to bringing KOKUYO’s design to Indian businesses with the speed and support that local production allows.”
KOKUYO Workplace India has introduced a task chair that features an adjustable lower-back support mechanism, which can adapt to different postures, as part of its efforts to meet the growing demand for comfortable and efficient workplace solutions.
